Kandy, Sri Lanka is a gorgeous town with the surrounding areas of the Kandy Lake almost having a European feel about it. This ruin of an old bath house was opposite the well-known Buddhist Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
I couldn’t fathom that this bath house had been abandoned and left to fade away. Imagine it in all it’s glory, bustling with people right there on the water on one side and the temple on the other. While this shoot was relatively private – all the tourists in Kandy were queuing to enter the sacred area – I did have some spectators in monkey form. The whole area surrounding the Temple of the Tooth is populated by monkeys. And let me tell you, they are not shy. They’ll happily take a plastic bag straight out of your hands.
