pureDKNY’s latest scent Rose stems (excuse the pun) from the fresh roses in Turkey’s Isparta valley. Every June, each flower is hand-picked prior to dawn resulting in 2500 tons of petals by season’s end. The scent extracted from rose damascene is feminine, light and reeks (again sorry for the pun) of authenticity – no sugary, artificial floral smells here.
However, we aren’t just impressed with the fragrance, but more so with pureDKNY’s humanitarian efforts which starts with the harvest of the petals. The company is partnered with CARE – an organisation dedicated to helping women escape global poverty through education, resources and mobilisation. The purchase of rose from farmers in Turkey (most of whom are women) ensures a long-term support of their industry.
On this particular day, alongside fellow bloggers and with the assistance of the ladies from the Mother and Child Project, we crafted “Sweet Heart” key chains. Mother and Child Project products are handmade by disadvantaged women in Singapore using up-cycled donated items and fabrics.
