Art, fashion and shopping – why choose one? The three come together perfectly at the tcc gallery in the form of new concept The Sew-Out Show.
This is the first show we’ve seen in Singapore that allows you to see a work of art, then walk away with a unique fashion item at the end of the show.
Artist Cain Lim started experimenting with stretching landscape photos. “I wanted to see what would happen if I could take two mountains and push them apart,” he said. And the exhibition is just that – mountains and forests from multiple countries including Japan and the US stretching into something else entirely.
Cain’s colourful works are the canvas, literally, for what happens next. Xiehei Stone of Stone for Gold will use the art at the end of the exhibition to create one-of-a-kind, limited edition leather accessories, from iPhone cases to bags and document holders.
Gallery visitors get to choose the part of the canvas they get: once part of it has been chosen, nobody else can have that piece!
Celebrity photographer and guest of honour Kevin Ou opened the collection with a few words and quick demostration of how to reserve your own unique bag.
