Trend edit: Modern noir

Post By RelatedRelated Post

The austere 40s are back in fashion, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be fun. There’s something about taking a classic look and putting a modern spin on it. It’s no secret that we love white so this trend is a big fave – taking the neutral colours of film noir with modern silhouettes and accents in bright red.

Helen Kaminski has done a great job of this for her AW14 collection, with plenty of lighter pieces that will still suit a tropical climate. The look is loose-fitting but crisp white with long loose hair or a pert bob. Alternatively, take a French lesson from Sandro with their masculine pieces, from the clean block silhouette to cropped pinstripe suits. Extra points for chunky black boots with a gold accent. Finish the look with a slightly winged pair of sunnies from Max&Co (modelled here by Caroline Celico and Erika Boldrin).

Looking back never looked this good.
