I have to admit, the first time I came across Furla, I just didn’t get it. Classic, yes, but where’s the fun? However, over the last few years I’ve gradually been won over by the brighter palettes and cleaner lines of their collections.
Maybe is has something to do with a greater focus on art, with the establishment of the Furla Foundation in 2008, or maybe it’s the brand’s increasing focus on Asia, but in 2015 they have come into their own with an energetic Spring/Summer collection.
For example, take the hand-painted remake of the Candy bag, each one individually numbered:
The Candy also has an incredibly fun Neo-Pop version in contrasting colours. The danger of this bag is that I would probably spend all day playing with the detailing instead of doing anything productive:
The most wearable award goes to the uber-contemporary Alice bag, which is bound to be up there with the Antigona and PS2 as one of the clean-lined classics:
Of course, the casual must-have right now is the black leather backpack. Don’t let the studded exterior fool you – this is all soft nappa leather:
There’s definitely something different about Furla this season, and I’m loving it. There’s a mix of classic and so-hot-right-now that will appeal to everyone’s taste. For the rest of the collection – well, you’ll just have to wait until it hits stores in the next few months.
