Botanical gardens, Kandy

My last day in Sri Lanka couldn’t have been more enjoyable than to be lost in the Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya, Kandy. The gardens are positively stunning. Aside from the flora (orchids, daisies, palms and bamboo), there is an abundance of fauna too. Lizards, monkeys, birds didn’t seem too fazed by our presence. A day in Eden for $11 SGD? So worth it. There’s not much to say about this post other than that I was unglamorously having a bad hair day. As I now have a knack for packing everything for most holidays into carry-on luggage since moving to Asia, I didn’t bring any shampoo and the villa didn’t supply any. Unawatuna reminds me of what Thai beaches were like before they became…

Mirissa beach

Mirissa beach, Sri Lanka completely shocked me with her beauty. Crystal clear waters, swaying palms, a rocky beach and coral clusters was surely mother nature showing off.  I hung out in a hammock at Palm Villa which was a gorgeous little boutique hotel overlooking the ocean. Mirissa is not yet as commercialised as other neighbouring beaches and is known as a good spot for dolphin or whale watching. This was…
